Putangirua Pinnacles

Having a couple of nights away in the Wairarapa we drove down from Martinborough to the Pinnacles, which were used as part of the Dimholt Road/Road of the Dead in Lord of the Rings. Impressive rock formations with interesting fossils here and there too.

Makara Beach

After Beth left for the field trip real I took a drive to Makara Beach again.  A fab spot about 20 minutes drive from Kelburn.  Was an early start and steam was rising from the fields and streams on route over the Makara pass. Lack of parking options on this narrow road prevented me from stopping to capture that though. Spent a few hours at Makara enjoying the mid-winter sun.

Otaki Field Trip

Went up to Otaki on Thursday so Beth and Jan could do checks on the spots for the field trip they ran this weekend. I went as taxi driver and to take the opportunity to take some photos.
